Exotics Frequently Asked Questions

Can I race it without risk of damage?

One of the most frequent questions we get here at Smith's is how can I have fun with an exotic without excessive risk to the vehicle?

We know you didn't buy this vehicle just to have it sit in a garage and look beautiful. There are some low risk / impact motor sports that are well suited to classic and exotic vehicles.

The SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) holds regular Autocross events that challenge drivers skills and the capabilities of the vehicle. Autocross, otherwise known as solo racing, involves a course laid out with cones in a slalum. Drivers are challenged to complete the course in the shortest amount of time, and are penalized for knocking down cones or not completing the layout as designed.

Take a look at the video below of a 1970 MGB and its owner enjoying a solo course together, to see how much fun you can have with an exotic in the SCCA.
